Hi friends!
Next month I will be taking my second trip to Haiti! Haiti is the poorest country in the world with more than half of its population living on less than $1 a day, while about 80% of the country lives on less than $2 a day. I was also able to see first hand the very little access to water Haitians have. In August of 2014, I spent time at Danita’s Children, an orphanage in Ouanaminthe, Haiti, for eight days. It was the most rewarding and best experience of my life so far. I made some incredible memories and met some amazing people during my time there. Danita’s Children’s mission is to “rescue, love, and care for orphans and impoverished children in Haiti.” I got acquainted with many of the programs that Danita’s Children offers. The Baby Rescue program assists the families of young children who may be suffering with malnutrition. The Recreation Therapy program (which was my personal favorite) works throughout the week with children with disabilities. I also visited a nearby senior-living home where the residents were very elderly and spoke very little to no English. Some didn’t speak at all mostly due to the physical state they were in. The Sunday during my trip I went to the church on the Danita’s Children property. The entire service was spoken and sang in Creole so I was pretty lost in what was being said. There is something extremely powerful in hearing the Gospel in a different language and culture, because it still has the same common message. For a couple different days, I was able to walk around the surrounding area of the orphanage to gain an understanding of how Haitians live. But my favorite time by far was the priceless moments I got to spend with the children – holding them, taking fun pictures, swinging on the swings, and soccer (lots of soccer). Haiti is full of such resilient people. Even though they may not have much in the material sense, everyone I came in contact with left such a lasting impression on my heart. I also met some of the most incredible people who are part of the staff of Danita’s Children. This summer, I have decided to take a trip back to Ouanaminthe for the same length of time where I will be doing a lot of the same activities, and potentially be able to expand from what I experienced last year. The trip itself costs $1,300, and I am asking for help in raising the funds. You’re donation would not only go towards my costs to get to Ouanaminthe, but you would also be supporting the incredible ministry of Danita’s Children. You have the power to make a difference right from where you are. Whether you are able to support me financially or in prayer, I appreciate it so much! Please contact me for the most convenient way to donate. Thank you so much

This is a blog about the ups & downs of early
adulthood, God's goodness & faithfulness, & life in other countries. “Look at the nations and watch— and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told."
