Every day brings a new challenge. Every day is another opportunity that tests who we think we are and what we think we believe. So, just take it one day at a time.
Seems like a cliche idea, but try it out and see how that idea may effect your everyday. Just for today, keep a smile on your face no matter the situation. Just for today, know your limits. Just for today, know the consequences of your actions. ... turn off the TV. ... take a break from Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Pinterest. ... experience something amazing. ... clean the house (and not just because people are coming over). ... try something new. ... have patience in all you do. ... exercise. ... listen to really good music. ... have a conversation with an encouraging person. ... compliment someone else. ... be smart. ... be courageous. ... be productive. ... have wisdom. ... travel. ... love the life you live. And if it doesn't work today, try it again tomorrow. Don't put yourself down. Don't get so upset and frustrated with yourself. You got this.

Here I am sitting on my computer and thinking this is taken so long to load, this is so frustrating! Then I rethought the same idea: what's really frustrating is living peacefully one day and the next a huge typhoon wipes throughout my home, taking with it my personal belongings, structural home, livelihood, and even in some cases loved ones! I can't believe how distorted my thoughts are. It drives me a bit crazy. God, and his mindset, interrupted my mindset to a reality. Yes, I have thought of this before. That I live a life of such luxury while others are in such poverty. But I needed a little reminder. I also wanted to share an excerpt from Undaunted by Christine Caine. A few seemingly simple ideas, but definitely good reminders on an everyday basis. "Simply Step into the Moment Don't over think being interrupted. If we hesitate and give them the chance, our own insecurities, feelings of awkwardness, schedule, and agenda may stand in the way of the moment of interruption that God has prepared for us. Make it a habit to:
It's this idea of giving rather than receiving. Don't wait to be given the gift to give back or pay it forward. You start the giving. It just might make a huge difference. I have been encountering this sentence many times recently. Think about it. To say God is love. Is is a verb, which implies action and in this sentence the action of love is going to God. God, and who He is and what He stands for, is the definition of love. It's this love that is hard for many Christians and non-Christians to even wrap their head around. The best image that I can think of is to imagine is God standing in front of you and going to give you a hug, he reaches his arms out, and they just keep going and going and going and there is just no way of seeing where they end. It is a never ending distance and amount of love that He has for you. I forget this concept so often. I carry myself throughout the day going through the motions of school, work, home, family, friends. Then the inside feelings of worry, doubt, stress, sadness, anger, disappointment. But I have to continually remind myself that God and His love for me are always by my side through school, work, etc. And there is no point in doubt or frustration when God and His love for me are already in the process of working all that stuff out. It is just so important to remember throughout your day that God never fails you, He never leaves you, and His love is never ending, everlasting, and unconditional throughout all your days! Isn't that amazing??! |
This is a blog about the ups & downs of early
adulthood, God's goodness & faithfulness, & life in other countries. “Look at the nations and watch— and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told."
